Romanian Govt Postpones Implementation Of Electronic Road Toll System Until Oct 1

The decision to postpone the system's implementation was madethrough government decree.
The country's roads authority CNADNR had initially announcedthat the electronic road toll system would be implemented startingAugust 1.
End-December 2009, CNADNR selected Romanian companies NovensysCorporation/UTI Systems to ensure the computerized system needed toissue, manage, monitor and control road toll stickers, for 35.96million lei (EUR1=RON4.2471), VAT not included. The auction waschallenged and CNADNR signed the contract in June this year.
According to a draft emergency decree drawn up by the ministry,considering the complexity of the implementation procedures, theelectronic road toll system will not be available starting August1. The ministry said that, given the facts, the deadline should beextended until October 1.
